Social Media for Gen Z & Alpha Gaming

I joined Game Jolt as the Director of Design for their social platform, touching all aspects of product design for web, iOS, Android, and our standalone desktop app over my year on the team. In my role, I led design as the principal product designer working directly with our CTO and development team, and managed art direction for all product needs with both full-time and contract illustrators.

 

 

A new quest

I partnered with our CTO and Director of Events to design and launch a social questing system for Game Jolt that has grown into a defining feature for the platform. Following its release, questing is now a core driver for platform engagement, user onboarding, and Game Jolt’s revenue-sharing program for creators.

 

 
 
 

Livestream with friends

Redesigning the livestreaming experience with a new UI and onboarding flow reinvigorated the feature just in time for two major end-of-summer events on Game Jolt, doubling usage across the platform long term. The new flow was also a huge improvement for our events team, reducing the difficulty of introducing new people to the feature during pre-event setup.

 
 
 

 

Personalization

Game Jolt users love personalizing their content across the platform and wanted more than the existing theme system. The design for adding backgrounds on posts was created with the design system in mind and later implemented in features like chat rooms and firesides.

 

 

Home page redesign

To highlight Game Jolt’s incredible user-generated content and drive sign up retention, I redesigned the home page to mimic the feel of the Game Jolt app feed with an endless scroll of curated content from Game Jolt’s most talented creators.
